Are you ready to be a champion for student success? Join us as a Learning Manager, where you will play a critical role in nurturing student potential by focusing on welfare, strategic intervention, and data-driven monitoring. This position is perfect for someone passionate about removing academic and behavioral barriers to learning, ensuring all students thrive in a supportive educational setting, and effectively managing complex student cases in collaboration with external agencies.
Welcome from the Principal
I'm thrilled to introduce you to Outwood Academy Carlton, serving the communities of Royston and Carlton. Our core purpose is to repeatedly grow well-informed, 'good' human beings armed with the character, skill, and qualifications to be successful. This aligns seamlessly with the Trust’s vision of ‘students first, raising standards and transforming lives.’
I am immensely proud of our students, who possess a strong moral code and behave exceptionally well. They actively contribute to the community and understand the importance of fundamental British values.
We deliver a holistic education through our 5 pillars of learning and explicitly teach behaviors using positive discipline, ensuring all students know how to be safe, responsible, respectful, and extraordinary. Our staff's unwavering dedication is pivotal to this success.
We are seeking prospective colleagues who share our passion for developing well-rounded individuals and align with our core purpose. I look forward to welcoming you into our academy.
The Role
We are looking for a dedicated and resilient colleague to join our Deep Support team as a Learning Manager. This is a critical role designed to maximise student attainment by removing barriers to learning. You will be the driving force for your assigned year group, using data to spot trends and taking proactive action to ensure every student stays on track.
This is a fast-paced, "front-line" role that combines strategic data work with hands-on student support. You will:
- Drive Intervention: Use the Praising Stars system and MIS data to track academic progress and behaviour, intervening early to support students at risk.
- Safeguarding & Welfare: Act as a key link for safeguarding, attending Case Conferences, recording incidents, and chairing multi-agency meetings (CIN/TAC).
- Attendance & Behaviour: Lead on attendance checks, conduct home visits with the EWO when necessary, and manage student readmissions and exclusions.
- Strategic Reporting: Analyse half-termly data to produce intervention booklets and present findings to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Operational Support: Supervise key social times (breakfast/break/lunch), coordinate year-group events (like Prom or residential trips), and respond to internal radio calls for lesson support.
This 12-month position to cover maternity leave and offers a unique vantage point into the operational leadership of the Academy. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, external agencies, and the Inclusion Coordinator, gaining invaluable experience in strategic intervention and multi-agency collaboration.
