Are you ready to make a real impact across a vibrant and ambitious local authority?

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for skilled, self‑motivated Procurement Category Managers, with a positive can‑do attitude and previous experience of working in a public procurement environment, to take the lead on delivering high‑quality, end‑to‑end tendering activity that truly makes a difference for our residents, communities and services.

This is your chance to join a forward‑thinking organisation that is passionate about delivering value for money, driving innovation and building strong, ethical supply chains. If you thrive in a role where your expertise shapes outcomes, influences strategy and supports meaningful positive change, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

In these influential roles, you will lead the full tendering lifecycle — from early engagement and shaping requirements, through to designing procurement strategies, managing competitive exercises and awarding contracts that deliver the best commercial and social outcomes.

You’ll provide trusted advice to colleagues across the Council, playing a central role in ensuring our procurement activities are compliant, well‑planned and aligned with organisational priorities. Working with stakeholders and suppliers, you’ll help develop robust, market‑aware procurement solutions that support both operational performance and long‑term strategic goals.

A key part of your work will involve championing the Council’s strong commitment to social value and ethical procurement. You will help embed practices that ensure every contract has a positive environmental, social or economic benefit — supporting local businesses, strengthening communities and promoting responsible supply chains.

Why These Roles Matter

Your work will directly shape how millions of pounds of public funds are spent each year. You’ll have the opportunity to influence key decisions, support the organisation’s transformation priorities and help deliver better outcomes for the people of Rotherham.

You’ll be joining a supportive, ambitious and collaborative procurement team that values fresh ideas, continuous improvement and professional development. We want people who care about doing great work — and who want to be part of something that genuinely makes a difference.

Why Join Rotherham Council?

  • A team that values innovation, creativity and a proactive approach
  • Opportunities to develop your professional skills and grow your career
  • The chance to lead significant procurement activity that shapes local services
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work–life balance
  • A culture that embraces social value, ethical practice and long‑term impact.
