3D Modelling Engineer

Due to continued growth, Collins Earthworks are looking for a full-time 3D Modelling Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models using Trimble Business Centre, producing deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders, and supporting tender and live project delivery across the business.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Liaise with the client to acquire project information
• Organise and prepare data
• Create 3D surfaces of the existing and proposed surfaces for project tenders and live contracts
• Acquire details of site clearance strip/demolition depths and apply to the model
• Acquire details of proposed construction make-ups and apply to the model
• Generate surfaces and check for errors
• Run Take-Off reports to establish project quantities and make available to the commercial team
• Drafting of drawings to submit to the client and internal staff
• Export of 3D designs and issues for machine control and site engineers
• Value Engineer the projects by balancing the site earthworks and exploring stabilising/traditional options
• Revise models with design updates from the client and keep the sites up to date
• Quantify variations
• Attend design team meetings with the client

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Competent IT skills.

• Willingness to attend meetings and liaise with clients when required.

• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Experience

• A good knowledge of the use of AutoCAD or similar modelling software
• An understanding of construction practises will be beneficial, but not a requirement
• Computer-literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

License/Certification

• Full clean driving licence
