Based at our Head Office in Rayleigh, Essex, Monitor Audio Group has an exciting permanent opportunity for an outstanding Junior Product Design Engineer to join our award-winning Research & Development team, working across our three home audio brands.
Reporting to the Design Manager, this role will support the development of world-class home audio products across our brands. You will work closely with designers and engineers to help bring new products from concept through to production while supporting the communication of design ideas throughout the organisation and to our customers.
This is a highly varied role that combines creative product design, CAD development, engineering problem solving, prototyping and product visualisation. The role encompasses all areas of product design and engineering, from user research, concept generation and sketching, 3D CAD modelling, rendering, engineering development and simulation through to manufacture and production.
We are looking for either the following:
- An Industrial/Product Designer with strong mechanical and engineering aptitude; or
- A Mechanical Engineer with strong design, visualisation and product development skills.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across both design and engineering disciplines and excited by the opportunity to take products from concept through to manufacture.

Education & Experience
- Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Design Visualisation or a related discipline.
- Exceptional graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Up to two years of relevant industry experience in a professional design or engineering environment is desirable.
Essential Skills
- Strong 3D CAD skills and a willingness to continue developing technical expertise. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is preferred, although candidates with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD experience are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly through visual, verbal and written formats.
- Understanding of product development principles & engineering problem-solving.
- Ability to work confidently across both design and engineering disciplines.
- Experience developing concepts from a design brief using a combination of digital modelling, prototyping and engineering development techniques.
- Experience creating prototypes using methods such as foam modelling, cardboard mock-ups and 3D printing.
- A commitment to continued professional development and a genuine enthusiasm for learning and improving as a designer or engineer.
Desirable Skills
- Sketching and concept generation.
- Photorealistic rendering using KeyShot or similar software.
- Design visualisation and presentation skills.
- Understanding of design for manufacture and the product development process.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including casting, machining and injection moulding.
- Interest in consumer products, audio equipment or premium product design.
- Experience producing and presenting both 2D and 3D design concepts.
