About Shoreham Port
Shoreham Port operates 24/7 365 days of the year within a fascinating and complex operations environment, where no two days are the same!
Our Port is ideally located in the South-East of England, perfect for short-sea shipping and handling a variety of cargoes from the UK and Europe including timber, steel, aggregates and dry bulks, as well as recycled waste products and cereals.
Key Tasks
Operate machinery and plant, as required, in particular a 360 Material Handler.
- Loading and unloading cargo vessels – you will be working either on the vessel or on the land.
- Forklift Truck Driving - assisting the unloading of timber vessels, moving the packs from landing point to stacking area, and loading lorries.
- Vessel Cargo Checkers - when a vessel is working in the timber terminal you will barcode each timber pack as they are unloaded from the vessel.
- General Labourers - re-stacking timber packs, tidying up the terminals.
Key Skills/Experience
- Experience of working on a plant such as Forklift Trucks, Telehandler and 360 material handler experience would be an advantage.
- Candidates must be aware that they are working in a port environment and therefore may be working in all weather conditions.
- It is essential to have a full UK Driving Licence.

Working pattern
40 hours per week (Monday to Friday with some weekend working)
Hours are variable and subject to short notice variations and changes depending on vessel requirements.
Operational hours are between 0600 – 2200 – typically the working hours are 0600 to 1900.
Overtime
- Weekday - paid at standard rate
- Saturday - paid at time and a half
- Sunday and Bank Holidays – paid at double rate
Weekday and weekend overtime will be required to meet customer expectations
