The main focus of the role is providing essential, front-line support to students so they have timely access to information and guidance, and consistent and practical advice to support them in continuation/completion of their studies.
You will be a first point of contact for students, working and advising in line with university policies, maintaining accurate records and managing sensitive information with empathy, professionalism and confidentiality.
As Retention & Engagement Support Coordinator you can expect to be involved in:
- Acting as a contact point and referral service to students with difficulties that may impact their studies, and signposting students to other services.
- Understanding and providing guidance to students and staff on university policies and procedures related to retention and engagement
- Supporting the administration and implementation of procedures and work related to retention and engagement
- Monitoring enquiries to the team via email, telephone or in person to ensure they are responded to promptly, consistently and to a high standard
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience of working in an office environment with contact via email, phone and face-to-face, with a variety of people
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience of and an ability to adapt your approach depending on student needs, to show empathy and be approachable to students who may be facing difficulties
- Previous experience of working in a confidential environment in line with data protection and safeguarding guidance
- Good IT skills and experience, and numeracy with an ability to process straight forward statistical information
