Patient Receptionist

9 Month FTC

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

Start/ finish times: 9:00am -5.30pm and early shift of 7:30am -15:30pm

Hourly Rate: £12.71

As part of the Administration team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth you will work proactively to coordinate and ensure that the outpatient clinics run smoothly and report any issues to the Manager. You will coordinate the patient’s pathway in the department, liaising with nursing staff, updating patient details, requesting patient transport and recording the outcome of all outpatient appointments.

What you'll be doing

Role

Work as a member of the administration team to provide a comprehensive reception/administrative role to the Outpatient Department. This will include undertaking the following tasks:

  • Setting up the daily outpatient clinics
  • Check patients in for their appointment
  • Book any follow up appointments required
  • To answer any patient queries both face to face and on the telephone
  • Create patient files for every patient that are consented for surgery
  • Liaising with the clinical teams ensuring that clinics are run smoothly

What we'll look for in you

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education
  • NVQ in Business Administration -desirable.
  • Customer Care/Service -desirable.

Experience

  • Proven relevant experience in dealing with the general public
  • Good computer skills including experience in using Word and Excel
  • General office systems and routines
  • Knowledge of health and safety -desirable
  • Experience of working in a similar setting -desirable
  • Sensitivity and empathy with people
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to problem solve effectively
