Main purpose of the role
Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Finance and payroll team, the role will ensure compliance to set financial regulations while producing accurate and timely management information.
Key Tasks
Financial Reporting: Complete the monthly reporting and preparation of management accounts, ensuring all necessary reporting is within reporting timelines;
Internal Controls: Monitor and develop the financial and operational control environment, maintaining necessary internal control standards, processes, documentation, and systems;
Leadership and Mentoring: Provide strong leadership, direction, and mentoring to the finance team, managing three direct reports
Fully integrate the Benefits Team into the finance function;
Management Information: Responsible for reconciling all income and cost to source data and provide a proposed link to enable accurate rent arrears, voids and clawback percentages.
Ensuring monthly cashflows are prepared and submitted to the Finance Director;
Business Partnering: Develop strong relationships with the Management Team and colleagues, enabling effective business partnering and providing financial insights to drive improvement in operational and financial performance;
Audit and Tax: Lead liaison with external auditors and tax advisors, ensuring financial statements are completed, signed off, and filed within agreed deadlines;
Budgeting and forecasting: Assist the Director of Finance on preparing the annual budgeting and ensure accurate quarterly reforecasting;
Treasury Management: Oversee day-to-day treasury functions;
Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns, UK government statistics;
Finance System Implementation: lead in the implementing the new finance system;
Payroll: Prepare monthly payroll ensuring staff are paid accurately and timely, confirming all adjustments to contractual pay are authorised. Complete and submit HMRC and pension provider reports assist with introduction of integrated staff management and payroll system.
Relevant essential skills and experience
ACA/CIMA/ACCA/QBE qualified
Strong understanding of UK GAAP and financial controls; Ideally with a background in audit or a controls environment;
Experience of new system implementation;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the internal stakeholders;
Previous experience of leading a finance team;
Strong analytical and reporting capabilities for board reporting;
Commercially aware with an open growth mindset;
Experienced user of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
