This role is hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to work 2 days per week at our Reading Office.

Job Purpose

The Education Project Manager is a catalyst for change — someone who believes in the power of sport to unlock confidence, connection, and wellbeing in young people.

This role leads the national expansion of Sport in Mind’s education programme, shaping a future where every child has access to life changing mental health support through movement. You won’t just manage a project. You’ll build a movement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Transformational Partnerships — Develop powerful alliances across sport, health, and education. You’ll bring together schools, national governing bodies, mental-health organisations, and community leaders to create a united front for young people’s wellbeing. Delivering Evidence Based Training — Deliver workshops, shape and evolve a national education programme that inspires, empowers, and equips young people with tools for lifelong mental wellbeing.

Research and Insight – Support the development of industry leading research and insight with health and university partners Train-the-Trainer Leadership — Build a scalable training model that turns passionate people into confident, skilled facilitators who can deliver Sport in Mind’s message across the country.

Freelance Workforce Development — Recruit, nurture, and champion a diverse team of freelance workshop leaders. You’ll create a culture of excellence, belonging, and purpose. Mission-Driven

Fundraising — Grow the resources needed to take this programme nationwide. From grant writing to corporate partnerships to community fundraising, you’ll open doors that allow more young people to benefit from our work.

Impact-Focused Project Management — Drive the programme forward with clarity, creativity, and accountability. You’ll manage budgets, timelines, knowledge exchanges, working groups, KPIs, and evaluation with a focus on real-world outcomes. Storytelling & Advocacy — Represent Sport in Mind with passion and authenticity. You’ll share our story, amplify young people’s voices through a new youth advisory board, and champion the role of sport in mental health.

Person Specification

Essential

Understanding of the UK education landscape

Experience leading education projects with measurable impact

A natural relationship-builder who can influence at all levels

Skilled in designing or delivering training

Confident managing freelance or dispersed teams

Proven success in fundraising or income generation

Outstanding communication and organisational skills Deep commitment to improving young people’s mental health

Knowledge of mental health frameworks and safeguarding

Desirable

Experience in the charity or social-impact sector

Qualifications in teaching, coaching, training, or youth work
