About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Analyst from a HM Forces or Blue Light Services background to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leeds or Manchester.
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst from a HM Forces or Blue Light Services background, with a strong track record of working in the public sector, who can operate confidently in commercial environments and help translate complex requirements into tangible outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Engaging with stakeholders to understand business needs and challenges
- Eliciting, analysing, and documenting requirements (functional and non-functional)
- Translating business needs into clear, actionable deliverables for technical teams
- Supporting agile teams through backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery cycles
- Mapping and improving business processes
- Identifying risks, issues, and dependencies and supporting mitigation strategies
- Navigating governance and regulatory requirements within public sector environments
About You
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Previous service in HM Forces or Blue Light Services (required)
- Commercial awareness and experience working in client-facing environments
- Familiarity with GDS standards or public sector frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements using industry best practices
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and ways of working
