We are seeking a Functional Skills Maths Lecturer to join Launch Pad, our specialist provision focused on re‑engaging young people and providing a positive, empowering educational experience.

You will deliver Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level 2 to Level 2 for classes of up to 20 learners, many of whom may have previously disengaged from education or had difficult educational experiences. Teaching within Launch Pad is relationship‑centred and informed by trauma‑aware and inclusive practice, with a strong emphasis on rebuilding confidence and motivation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality Functional Skills maths teaching (E2–Level 2)
  • Plan flexible, differentiated lessons to meet individual learner needs
  • Support learners who may be anxious, disengaged or lack confidence in maths
  • Create a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
  • Monitor learner progress and set achievable individual targets
  • Work collaboratively with the Launch Pad team to support learner engagement and success

About You

  • Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level to Level 2
  • A positive, patient and learner‑centred approach
  • An interest or background in working with disengaged young people, youth work, alternative provision or trauma‑informed practice would be an advantage

Qualifications

  • Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Grade C/4 or above or equivalent)
  • Full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above, or willingness to work towards one (training support available)

This 0.5 post (2.5 days per week) offers an opportunity to teach maths in a supportive, values‑led setting and make a meaningful difference to learners’ educational journeys.

We may close this advert early if suitable candidates are identified, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
