An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nursing Directorate for an experienced and dynamic senior nurse leader to undertake the role of Head of Nursing Workforce, Education & Professional Standards on a secondment basis at 22.5 hours/week.

Secondment Details

This opportunity is open to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board employees only. The post is offered as a secondment for 5 months till 1st December 2026. Applicants must obtain approval from their current line manager prior to application. Please note that agreement for release, including any potential early release from current post, will need to be negotiated.

Main duties of the job

This is a high-profile, strategic role with responsibility for leading and shaping nursing workforce planning, professional standards, regulation and education across the organisation. The post holder will provide expert professional leadership, ensuring robust systems are in place to support NMC requirements, workforce development, education commissioning and quality assurance.

Working closely with the Executive Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Nursing, the successful candidate will contribute to organisational strategy, assurance and decision-making, while promoting a culture of professionalism, continuous improvement and high-quality patient care.

We are looking for a credible, values-driven and innovative leader with significant senior-level experience across workforce, education and professional governance, and a strong understanding of the wider NHS and policy landscape.
