Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner
University Hospitals Tees
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated advance physiotherapy practitioner to join our established Intermediate Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service.
The post holder will have a proven track record in the management of complex musculoskeletal pathology with excellent clinical skills, and be qualified in injection therapy.
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team would be desirable. Accountability will be to the Clinical Lead, with strong professional links to the Director of Physiotherapy.
We are an MDT comprising of Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, Advanced Podiatry Practitioners and GPwSI providing high quality clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of peripheral musculoskeletal conditions to ensure the right care at the right time, with strong links to Orthopaedics and Rheumatology Services.
The post also involves the triage of secondary care referrals and will be delivered from the community locations at Whitby Hospital, Redcar Primary Care Hospital, Guisborough Primary Care Hospital, East Cleveland Primary Care Hospital and Onelife, Middlesbrough.
The postholder will provide independent assessment, investigation, diagnosis, advice on the management and treatment for patients presenting with peripheral musculoskeletal problems referred by primary care clinicians i.e. GP’s, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, podiatrists, whose complexity or severity precludes management in the primary care setting.
The postholder will act as a source of specialist knowledge and expertise on the management of peripheral soft tissue and non inflammatory joint disease and to provide an advisory service to senior community physiotherapists, GP’s and other health care professionals (e.g. podiatrists, nurse practitioners).
The postholder will work as a part of the Clinical Assessment Service to independently and /or team triage all GP referrals to orthopaedics through highly advanced specialist assessment of patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders making on decisions on appropriate services for each referral.
We support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
