Head Nurse - Children and Young People

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at this post, it's a great one!

We are really excited to be advertising a superb opportunity to come and work with us here at CHFT to help support, lead and learn with all those that work across our brilliant children's services. This is a largely operational role working alongside the children's directorate, matrons/service leads and other CYP services as required.

The children that we look after across our services are our number one priority, so we are looking for our next Head Nurse CYP to be someone really special!

You will work alongside the Associate Director of Nursing FSS and directorate management team to champion, advocate and promote our brilliant services to ensure that the CYP directorate continuously delivers safe and high quality patient care, all day every day.

You will be a highly visible 'eyes and ears' leader who is clinically credible, approachable and able to talk to children, parents/guardians with kindness, care and confidence.

Evidence of managing patients and teams within acute children's services is essential, as is a proven track record of supporting and leading on local and national initiatives.

The post holder will work closely with the Associate Director of Nursing for FSS, the strategic Nurse Consultant for CYP and the CYP Directorate Management Team.

An informal discussion and visit is strongly recommended.

The post holder will support the Associate Director of Nursing (ADN) for FSS with the overall strategic and operational development of nursing within the children’s directorate, with a particular focus on quality, patient experience, workforce and risk management. The role will support the Children’s Directorate operationally as directed by the ADN.

The Head Nurse will work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Nursing to provide assurance to the Executive Team and Board of Directors those robust systems of governance and performance management are in place and that high quality led services are being developed and delivered across CHFT

The post holder will support the CYP directorate to deliver the Quality Improvement agenda, including horizon scanning to identify areas where the directorate can lead on quality improvement to provide high quality care for our patients.

CHFT is an integrated Trust of 6,500+ colleagues providing hospital and community services to patients and communities across Calderdale and Kirklees. We are rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission, are a top performing Trust for Elective Recovery, Emergency and Cancer Care and widely acknowledged as a national digital lead when it comes to caring for people across our local and regional systems.

Our people are at the core of everything we do, hence our commitment to One Culture of Care. Our focus is to care for and support each other in order to provide outstanding compassionate care to our patients. That is why we are looking for an inclusive collaborative, creative, innovative and compassionate leader to join us in this role.
