PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24800- £30,533 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join BBC Radio Leicester’s Breakfast team and help wake up Leicestershire every weekday. As a Journalism Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role supporting the Presenter and Producer to deliver engaging, high-quality output. From research and guest booking to live production support, and providing and delivering multiplatform content. You’ll help ensure the programme runs smoothly while reflecting and serving the local audience.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Support the smooth running of the Breakfast show, assisting the Presenter and Producer before, during and after broadcast.
- Research stories, develop ideas and compile briefs that reflect the interests of local audiences.
- Source, book and manage contributors and studio guests, ensuring strong, diverse voices on air.
- Provide live and recorded production support, including basic operation of broadcast equipment and running orders.
- Manage administrative tasks such as scripts, databases and programme logistics while meeting tight deadlines.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Strong interest in journalism and broadcast media, with an understanding of radio output and storytelling.
- Ability to generate and develop content ideas and assess the value of stories.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to fast-paced deadlines.
- Confident communicator who can quickly build rapport with contributors and colleagues.
- Strong knowledge of Leicestershire and its communities, with a passion for local stories.
DESIRABLE
- Experience supporting live radio, audio production and social media.
- Basic technical skills in broadcast or audio equipment.
- Experience booking guests or working with contributors.
- Experience working in a newsroom, production or content environment.
- Understanding of BBC editorial standards and commitment to diversity in output.
