Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to expand their knowledge and skills in paediatrics. The post holder will work within the Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Team as well as cover general paediatric clinics and group sessions across the health board. There may also be opportunities to work within other specialities in paediatrics.

We are looking for someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about paediatrics and has ideally gained experience in this specialist area. Experience in other specialist areas will also be considered.

We currently have funding for a 0.6 WTE post in home enteral feeding, however there may be other opportunities within the team, so please get in touch if you have any queries.

Whilst some previous experience and post registration training in this speciality is ideal, we will consider those who haven't, to undertake a one-year training competency framework under Annex 21, 75% Band 6. During this year you will obtain the relevant training and experience to meet the full competency framework of this Band 6 role and will be able to undertake all duties within this specialist dietitian job description.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work from Serennu Children’s centre and Nevill hall hospital and be responsible for a case load of children and young people requiring enteral feeding in the community. They will also be responsible for general paediatric dietetic outpatient clinics and delivering education to families.

There will be the opportunity to gain further skills in other specialist areas within paediatrics. This may include neonates, inherited metabolic conditions and inpatient cover at the Grange University hospital.

  • Completed clinical educators’ course or have demonstrate equivalent experience

  • Evidence of a strong interest in paediatric dietetics
  • Experience of managing paediatric patients
  • A range of post registration experience including evidence of MDT working

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of CPD relevant to paediatrics

Qualifications And Knowledge

  • Dietetics degree or Post graduate diploma or masters in Dietetics
  • HCPC registration as a dietitian

Desirable criteria

  • Completion of masters level paediatric dietetic training
  • Member of BDA paediatric group
