Trustee
Home-Start Elmbridge
What will you be doing?
All our trustees are passionate about the work of Home-Start, and any new board member must share that passion and the desire to make a difference to families with young children in Elmbridge.
We have currently 8 trustees on the Home Start Elmbridge board with a wide range of skills and experience. We are always keen to diversify our board further and bring in fresh perspectives and ideas. We are looking for individuals who:
- Have ‘lived in’ family experience
- Have a background in strategic planning , organisational change, business change management, governance and /or process improvements .
- Can appreciate the challenges some families are experiencing during early years of a child’ life
- Are aware of the challenges that both new mothers and fathers are facing and can bring in new ideas to allow us to enhance our services.
What is the time commitment?
We are looking for individuals that can commit approximately 10 – 15 hours of their time per month, which includes attendance at trustee meetings. These meetings take place every 6 weeks for two hours. We meet in person, but there is also the option to join meetings virtually from time to time. The preparation and post-meeting work can be done at times to suit you.
We have a Surrey wide meeting that meets every 6 weeks and subcommittees for Finance, Operations and Fundraising which meets regularly. Not all trustees attend these.
What difference will you make?
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a great team of people, all wanting to make life a little easier for local families. Over the last two or three years we have developed the range of services we offer to families in response to the need in the area - you could be part of the next stage of our journey.
Whilst this is an unpaid position, you will receive full training and will be compensated for any expenses incurred.
Whether you are at the start of your career, looking to progress, or wanting a fulfilling role in your retirement, becoming a trustee is a great way of utilising existing skills and experience – and gaining new ones.
