Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Be U Swindon Mental Health Support Team for a part time Clinical Supervisor and Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner to increase the services supervision capacity. Under expert supervision and as part of a dynamic and evolving mental health support team the successful post- holder will supervise, develop, and support Education Mental Health Practitioners/Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and Whole School Approach Interventions. The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the team and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues. The post holder will also hold a small caseload of 6-8 in agreement with their supervisor and some line management responsibility will be required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner within the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), you will work collaboratively with schools, children’s services, health professionals, and community organisations to support the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. You will manage relationships with educational settings, attend and contribute to internal and external meetings, oversee referral allocation and waiting lists for a designated cluster of schools, and support service development through audits, participation activities, and the evaluation of new initiatives. The role includes delivering clinical assessments and evidence-based low-intensity CBT interventions, supporting children and young people with a range of mental health needs, and providing signposting or referrals where appropriate. You will provide clinical skills supervision and case management to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), trainee EMHPs, and Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), supporting their professional development and promoting high-quality, child-centred care. Working within CYP IAPT principles, you will contribute to the delivery of whole-school approach initiatives, including consultations, workshops, training, and wellbeing promotion activities. You will maintain accurate clinical records, monitor outcomes, ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times, and support the continuous improvement of the service through training, supervision, quality assurance activities, and best practice development. The successful candidate will be a highly organised and motivated professional with excellent communication skills, a commitment to safeguarding, and the ability to manage competing priorities while contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
