About The Role

We are seeking a committed Plumbing & Gas Technician to support the effective delivery of College services and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Provide technical support to Plumbing tutors and learners during practical workshop sessions.
  • Assist in the preparation, organisation, and delivery of a flexible and industry-relevant curriculum offer, including employability and preparation-for-work skills, in line with employer needs, industry standards, and awarding body requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of Health and Safety, housekeeping, and workshop organisation at all times, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and college procedures.
  • Ensure the safe maintenance, inspection, and effective operation of plumbing workshop equipment, tools, rigs, pipework systems, and associated resources.
  • Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing training bays, heating systems, sanitaryware, and other workshop facilities used for teaching and assessment purposes.
  • Manage workshop resources and stores, including monitoring stock levels and ordering materials, consumables, fittings, components, and equipment as required.
  • Complete, update, and maintain electronic risk assessments using Smartlog, ensuring all documentation remains accurate, current, and compliant.
  • Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments

Skills And Experience

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Building and sustaining effective and successful working relationships with partner organisations and external stakeholders demonstrating networking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to build positive working relationships, work collaboratively as part of a team, and provide effective support to both staff and learners
  • Demonstrate excellent practical skills and be confident in the use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and materials. The ability to support the maintenance of workshop environments, resources, and equipment to a high standard is essential
  • They will be competent in the use of IT and digital systems and able to maintain accurate documentation and records in support of teaching, learning, and operational activities.
  • First Aid at Work
  • A Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely
  • Level 2/3 in plumbing and gas
  • GCSE maths and English grade C or above
