About The Role
We are looking for an experienced
Arboricultural Surveyor to join our growing Southern team, supporting a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, utility, and development projects across the South of England.
This is a predominantly field-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, identifying and assessing trees, collecting accurate survey data, and contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile projects.
You will work closely with our Arboricultural Consultants and wider environmental teams, carrying out a range of tree surveys and inspections that provide essential information to support planning, development, and asset management.
What You’ll Do
You will undertake a wide range of arboricultural surveying activities, including:
- Carrying out BS5837:2012 tree surveys to support development and planning projects
- Completing Visual Tree Assessments (VTA) and general tree condition surveys
- Recording accurate tree data using digital surveying equipment and specialist software
- Identifying tree species, defects, physiological condition, and management requirements
- Collecting measurements including tree height, stem diameter, crown spread, and site constraints
- Supporting decay detection and further tree investigations where required
- Assisting with tree protection monitoring and site inspections during construction phases
- Liaising with consultants, clients, site teams, and project stakeholders
- Ensuring all survey work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high professional standard
No two days are the same, and you’ll be involved in a variety of sites ranging from urban developments and infrastructure schemes to utilities and environmental projects.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience undertaking arboricultural surveys and inspections
- Good working knowledge of BS5837:2012 surveys and tree assessment principles
- A qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related discipline (Level 3, Level 4, or higher desirable)
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification (desirable)
- Strong tree identification skills and understanding of common defects and disorders
- Experience using digital survey systems and associated software
- A good understanding of health and safety requirements when working on sites
- CSCS and/or ROLO certification (desirable)
- A full UK driving licence (clean)
- A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
