About The Role
Manage and develop a diverse team of roster clerks and operations support clerks, producing safe, efficient and cost¿effective rosters and delivering trusted administrative support that helps local managers create environments where everyone can do their best work
You'll play a key leadership role in ensuring our people, plans and rosters enable a safe, reliable and efficient railway for everyone.
- Lead, inspire and develop a resourcing team, providing clear direction, coaching and ongoing support to help colleagues perform at their best and grow their skills.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of safe, efficient and cost¿effective rosters, balancing operational needs with colleague wellbeing.
- Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, Terms & Conditions, national agreements and fatigue management standards within all rostering activity.
- Work in partnership with HR Business Partners to shape and deliver effective resource plans that support recruitment, training and long¿term workforce sustainability.
- Collaborate with Management Accountants to help managers plan, manage and deliver against annual budgets.
- Provide clear, accurate and timely information to support decision¿making, reporting and planning - including workforce visualisation, contingency planning, working time exceedances, absence management and financial off¿costing.
- Oversee accurate payroll inputs, ensuring colleagues are paid correctly and on time.
- Manage support service contracts and systems, identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency and embed best practice through continuous improvement.
- Prepare and provide audit documentation as required, ensuring robust governance and assurance.
- Support local collective bargaining arrangements, acting as management¿side secretary for Route/Area Council meetings and tracking agreed actions through to delivery.

Essential
Your experience and skills
- A proven track record of leading, managing and developing people in a collaborative and inclusive way.
- Confidence in making decisions, using sound judgement and assertiveness when required.
- Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting your style for different audiences.
- Well¿developed influencing and negotiation skills, with experience working alongside multiple stakeholders.
- Expert knowledge of Network Rail rostering principles.
- A strong understanding of Terms & Conditions of Service and pay arrangements relating to rostering.
- Knowledge of the UK railway industry and operational environments.
- A solid understanding of people management policies and procedures.
- Experience using Lean tools and continuous improvement approaches.
Desirable
- Experience working in a busy administrative or operational support environment.
- Local Route or Area knowledge.
- Previous hands-on rostering experience.
