The Admissions Team sits within the Department of Marketing, Admissions, Recruitment and Communications (MARC).

Within the Directorate, Admissions delivers a high-quality service to prospective students, applicants, academic colleagues and external stakeholders and is responsible for:

  • Operating fair, transparent and responsive admissions and selection processes that support an excellent applicant experience.
  • Managing admissions activity to support the University's recruitment objectives and student number targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements and sector best practice.
  • Providing professional advice and guidance on admissions procedures, qualifications, entry requirements and applicant eligibility.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver robust, efficient and applicant-focused admissions services.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an Admissions Officer to join our Partnerships Admissions Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting applicants throughout their journey from application through to enrolment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, processing and quality assuring applications in accordance with university regulations, admissions policies and external regulatory requirements. The role will involve providing advice and guidance to applicants, academic departments and external stakeholders on admissions procedures, qualifications, entry requirements and application documentation.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate applicant records, managing application queries and complex cases, undertaking compliance and eligibility checks, and ensuring admissions decisions are processed efficiently and accurately. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work confidently with complex information and large volumes of applicant data.

Working closely with colleagues across Admissions, Student Records, Compliance, Student Systems, Academic Schools and Recruitment teams, you will contribute to the delivery of a seamless applicant experience whilst supporting the University's recruitment and admissions objectives.

The role also provides opportunities to contribute to wider admissions and recruitment activities, including Open Days, Applicant Visit Days, Confirmation, Clearing and enrolment-related events.

The Person

We are looking for an organised, customer-focused and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality services.

You will have experience of working within an administrative, customer service or admissions environment and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident in providing advice and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable interpreting and applying policies and procedures, working with complex information and maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

You will be a proactive team player who can work independently when required and who is committed to delivering an excellent applicant experience. Experience of working within Higher Education, admissions, student administration or a regulated environment would be advantageous, although not essential.

Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic about supporting prospective students and contributing to the University's success through the delivery of a professional, efficient and compliant admissions service.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis (generally you will be expected to be on campus 3 days a week) and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.
