About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Bath Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) at the University of Bath as a PPIE Co-ordinator.

The MHRG is funded for an initial 5 years by the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) from 2025-2029.

The focus of our work is applied research aimed at improving health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 12-25 in the local region.

The work of the centre will be guided by our lived experience advisory panels and stakeholder groups.

The successful applicant will work closely in a team with the Centre Manager, Administrative Assistant, Expert by Experience PPIE Lead, and Public Engagement Lead.

The role will also involve working closely with the academic staff leading the research programmes, and with research staff and students working in the centre.

Role purpose

To ensure that the voices, experiences, and priorities of children, young people and their families meaningfully shape the direction, delivery and impact of the Bath Mental Health Research Group (MHRG).

The post holder will develop, support and sustain high-quality PPIE activity across the MHRG, embedding inclusive, ethical and youth centred involvement practices throughout the research lifecycle.

Role summary

The PPIE Coordinator will work closely with the research team in the MHRG to support implementation of the PPIE and Research Inclusion strategy across all research activities, spanning the research lifecycle from planning, execution, analysis, write-up and dissemination.

The post holder will monitor and evaluate PPIE impact and provide clear feedback loops to demonstrate how public contributions influence research decisions.

The post-holder will provide expert help and consultation to early career researchers in the MHRG (including placement students, PhD students, research assistants/associates) to plan, carry out, and evaluate their PPIE activities.

The post holder will have a good understanding of research methods, a strong commitment to and knowledge about inclusion of lived experience in research, excellent administration and project management skills, and enjoy communicating in writing and verbally with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.

Additional information

This role will be complementary to existing roles in the MHRG, including the Public Engagement Lead (0.4 FTE) and Expert by Experience PPIE Lead (0.2 FTE).

Please contact the MHRG Director, Professor Pamela Jacobsen (***email_hidden***), if you would like to discuss the role further, or to arrange a campus visit.
