We are seeking to recruit to one 37hr post and are open to receiving applications from enthusiastic and motivated individuals who would like to be considered for the post.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring residents occupy homes that are healthy, sustainable and where necessary, adapted to meet the needs of the residents across all housing tenures.

a) The inspection of properties to provide written reports.

b) Working closely with other professionals such as the Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Falls Prevention Practitioners, to provide feasibility reports, sketch plans, schedules of work and estimated costs.

c) Responding to informal enquiries and formal applications to determine eligibility for grant and other help.

d) Inspecting works in progress or completed work on site, recommend appropriate stage and final grant payments for approval by their manager ensuring that documentation is accurate

e) Liaising with contractors, customers and other housing professionals to achieve successful outcomes for customers and the council.

The successful applicants should have a HNC Building qualification or 5 years equivalent experience in domestic building maintenance and improvements/adaptations, and knowledge of local authority decision-making processes. Excellent communication skills, organisation skills and IT skills are also important.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
