We are seeking to recruit to one 37hr post and are open to receiving applications from enthusiastic and motivated individuals who would like to be considered for the post.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring residents occupy homes that are healthy and sustainable, carrying out a range of duties that will support homeowners to maintain their homes, and owners of empty properties to bring them back in to use.
To inspect and assess homes, including empty properties, identify building defects and associated hazards, or statutory nuisances, and specify the type and quality of the remedial works to bring them up to the required standard.
To work with owners of properties and their contractors throughout the duration of any remedial works that we are supporting or requiring through enforcement action.
To help owners access financial help (e.g. loans) to ensure that properties meet standards to enable them to be safe and healthy to occupy or brought back into use.
Use all available legislation to address poor appearance and derelict properties. Prepare and serve or arrange for the serving of legal notices, ensuring correct procedures and the enforcement policy are followed.
The successful applicant should have a Diploma or BTEC in Housing, or at least 5 years equivalent experience, and a ‘Housing Health & Rating System’ (HHSRS) practitioners’ qualification.
A sound knowledge of the service’s customer standards, practices and procedures and the ability to work to them at all times. Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders in order achieve successful outcomes for vulnerable residents.
Excellent communication skills, organisation skills and IT skills are also important.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
