Hawthorn Academy is seeking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisor to join our caring and friendly team of dedicated staff.

This is a permanent post working from 11:15am until 1:15pm each day and is term time only. The duties include preparing the dinner hall for lunch, supervising and assisting pupils in the hall, and supporting pupils to make lunch.

All training will be provided by existing school staff. There are often opportunities for supply work in the classroom either before or after the lunch should this be of interest.

Hawthorn Academy is a newly established specialist school in Bracknell, for pupils aged 11-16 with a range of complex Special Educational Needs. The school operates as a part of The Propeller Academy Trust , reflecting a strong commitment to high-quality, inclusive, and specialist provision.

About the Role

  • To provide lunchtime support for designated pupils
  • To work with other lunchtime staff to set up the lunch hall using the pupil seating plan
  • To support pupils to maintain good eating habits and good behaviour
  • To supervise designated pupils on the playground
  • To support pupils to meet their targets in both the lunch hall and outside break duty
  • To assist the teacher and teaching assistants to manage behaviour as required
  • To participate in some training events, such as Safeguarding
  • To be aware of and comply with Health and Safety legislation and policies of the school

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with learning difficulties
  • A strong team player with the confidence to use initiative when needed
  • Able to follow direction and adapt to changing situations
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • Physically fit to meet the demands of the role, including manual handling and being active throughout the day
  • Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to work across teams or school sites
  • Happy to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Positive, proactive and resilient attitude
  • First Aid qualification (desirable)
