We're looking for a Security Coordinator to join our Devonport Royal Dockyard team based in Plymouth.
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering a significant redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We're seeking an experienced Security Coordinator to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining security across this high-profile project.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is essential. Please note this process can take up to eight weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Security Coordinator, you'll be working within the security team, supporting them in coordinating and maintaining security assurance across all four pillars: personnel, physical, information/cyber, and operational security. Your day-to-day will include:
- Coordinating and quality-assuring personnel security activities, ensuring complex vetting cases are complete, accurate, and compliant with UK Government and MOD requirements
- Managing security documentation and records to support compliance with MOD policies, contractual requirements, and organisational security management systems
- Coordinating supply chain security assurance activities, including pre-qualification checks, compliance monitoring, and risk-based supplier assessments
- Supporting information and cyber security compliance activities aligned to UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and MOD standards
- Coordinating physical security assurance activities, supporting site inspections, audits, and reviews to identify risks and track corrective actions
What are we looking for?
This role of Security Coordinator is great for you if:
- You have experience in vetting, compliance, and security-related work with strong attention to detail
- You possess excellent analytical and review skills to process complex cases and assess supplier information
- You're confident using digital systems and tools, with the ability to manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- You have strong communication skills and can work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and security advisors
- You take a proactive approach, identifying issues, escalating appropriately, and supporting improvements in processes and controls
Rewards and benefits
We're proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs. You can see more information of benefits here.
Diversity and inclusion
Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority for us. We're proud of the steps we've taken so far, but we know we must always do more. Our employees are key in shaping Kier's diversity and inclusion initiatives and our people have made a huge impact on how we work, by using their experiences to shape our policies. You can see our D&I action plan here.
As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this role will be offered an interview.
Due to the nature of this role and the nature of the work at this site, you will be required to complete a Government Security Check (SC) Clearance, which takes place during/before your employment, and is conducted by the Cabinet Office's United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) agency who set out a pre-requisite criteria including residency history. Applicants with convictions will be treated on a case-by-case basis. We do not discriminate based on an applicant's conviction history or the details of any convictions disclosed to us – to read more about our programme to support people with convictions into employment, visit Making Ground. This role will also be subject to further pre-employment checks.
We look forward to seeing your application to #joinkier.
