Senior Lecturer and Consultant Psychiatrist

Are you medically qualified and currently practicing in psychiatry within an NHS organisation, with demonstrable expertise in clinical research and education in this field?
We are seeking an inspirational researcher, educator and role model to join both the Kent and Medway Medical School as a clinical academic and the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
This is a joint appointment with Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust and approximately 50% of the role will be carried out under an honorary consultant contract with the Trust in adult psychiatry.
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake high quality research within an innovative academic environment, to initiate new avenues of research and to make an important contribution to the aims of Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust, the medical school and the partner universities.
To make your mark in this role you must be suitably qualified and an experienced senior clinician, with evidence of medical education experience, high quality research, publications and conference presentations, and an innovative and co-operative approach that matches our own.
This post is based across Maidstone, Canterbury, Kent and Medway.
In this role you will
- Engage in individual and collaborative research and scholarship
- Develop income from research, enterprise or corporate engagement
- Deliver high-quality teaching to students in KMMS
- Manage, appraise and give professional supervision to Resident doctors within the Trust
- Ensure that Resident doctors working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant
- Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients in the Trust
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current medical qualification, full GMC registration with current licence to practise in general adult psychiatry with entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months)
- A research or professional doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Evidence of research excellence in psychiatry including publications in internationally competitive journals and conference presentations
- A Certificate of Completion of Specialist training (CCST) and approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
