Autism Anglia is a dedicated charity committed to supporting autistic people and their families across the region. Our work focuses on empowering individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives, while advocating for greater understanding, acceptance and inclusion within society.

By joining our Board as a Trustee, you’ll become part of a committed and supportive group of people who care deeply about our mission. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute your skills and perspective, while also developing new experiences and meaningful connections.

About the role

Trustees work together to guide the charity and ensure its long-term success. This includes making sure it delivers its mission, uses resources responsibly, follows the law, and acts in the best interests of the people it supports.

  • Contribute to strategy and direction, helping shape plans and participating in board decisions.
  • Support and constructively challenge the executive team to ensure effective leadership.
  • Ensure strong governance and compliance, following laws, regulations, and acting in the charity’s best interests.
  • Protect the charity’s reputation, values, and integrity, including managing conflicts of interest.
  • Oversee financial sustainability, reviewing budgets, accounts, and key financial risks.
  • Monitor risk and safeguarding, ensuring appropriate policies and learning from incidents.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture, acting as an ambassador and supporting fair treatment of staff and volunteers.
  • Drive performance and representation, monitoring progress, holding leadership accountable, and promoting the charity through networks and events.
