Job Overview
OPUSS Ward is a short stay ward for the care of older people. We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and motivated full-time flexible band 5 registered nurse.
AS a Band 5 Registered Nurse on the Elderly Care Ward, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred care to older adults, many of whom present with complex medical, cognitive, and social needs. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote patient well-being, dignity and independence.
This role requires a caring, kind and professional approach, excellent clinical skills and the ability to respond to the changing needs of patients in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.

Main duties of the job
Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines, acting as a named nurse or key worker for a defined group of patients.
Take Responsibility For
- Assessing care and health education needs
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans, including discharge planning
Gain Experience And Develop Skills In
- Clinical practice
- Facilitation and teaching
- Management and leadership (as appropriate)
Contribute to the delivery of the RUH Nursing Strategy, supporting its objectives through effective communication and participation in clinical supervision.
Act as a mentor, preceptor, facilitator, and role model for less experienced staff, promoting learning and professional development within the team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurses with NMC Registration
- Has current experience in working in an NHS ward
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate confidence in using electronic patient records
- Up to date with clinical skill
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to mentor or support students nurses or junior staff.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in end-of-life care or advanced care planning
Specifica Skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge in age-related health conditions and their management, e.g. falls prevention; pressure ulcer prevention; polypharmacy)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrates compassionate; kindness and civility attitude
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in elderly care
- Completion of relevant clinical skills training
- Understanding of discharge planning in elderly care
