The Role

We are looking for an experienced Lawyer (qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales) with 3-4 years PQE, to join our highly regarded Real Estate team at Baker McKenzie LLP. This role will be our first Associate hire into the Real Estate team within our Belfast office but will work primarily with and as an extension of our team in London, consisting of three Partners, fifteen Associates, one Knowledge Lawyer, and two Trainees. Interested applicants should be able to demonstrate exemplary technical skills and relish the opportunity to join a truly unique and successful global real estate team.

The role will involve:

  • Advising and supporting leading multi-national corporates with their occupational requirements in the UK.
  • Assisting with due diligence and post completion matters.
  • Advising and supporting on asset management work for our institutional investor clients.
  • Assisting on all UK real estate investment acquisitions and disposals.
  • Working closely with the London office Banking team to support real estate finance transactions.
  • Working closely with the London office Corporate team in the coordination and implementation of multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions.
  • Working as part of a team and taking an active role in sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Managing paralegals in the Belfast office to assist with the work.
  • Some travel to the London office may be required.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • A qualified lawyer with excellent academics
  • Substantial experience of commercial real estate gained within an international or city law firm
  • Good understanding of Land Registry and HMRC processes and forms
  • Commerciality
  • Excellent written communication and drafting skills
  • Initiative and proactivity
  • Strong service orientation - a "client first" culture
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with clients
  • High work standards
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to adapt style as required

  • English law real estate experience
  • Experience of complex real estate transactions
