About the Role

Xcel Health FCP is seeking an experienced Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner with a strong musculoskeletal background and proven competency in corticosteroid injections to join our growing Primary Care Network service in Blackburn.

The successful candidate will work autonomously within GP practices, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions at the first point of contact. A key element of this role is the delivery of evidence-based injection therapy as part of comprehensive patient management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Deliver corticosteroid injections independently and safely within scope of practice.
• Manage complex MSK presentations within primary care settings.
• Request and interpret relevant investigations where appropriate.
• Develop patient-centred management plans and support self-management.
• Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.

Requirements

• HCPC-registered Physiotherapist.
• Band 8 level experience or equivalent in MSK / FCP role
• Extensive post-registration musculoskeletal experience.
• Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
• Recognised postgraduate qualification in Injection Therapy.
• Demonstrable experience delivering corticosteroid injections independently.
• Strong evidence of autonomous clinical practice.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between practices if required.

• Independent Prescriber
• MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent Level 7 qualification.
• Completion of the FCP Roadmap.
• Previous experience working within Primary Care Networks or GP practices.
• Experience requesting and interpreting diagnostic imaging.
