An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cellular Pathology Department for a Healthcare Support Worker, Band 3, Pre-analytical Supervisor.
The vacancy is a permanent 37.5 hour post, working Monday to Friday 08.30–17.00 with a 1-hour unpaid lunch.
We are a busy Histology and Diagnostic Cytology department processing 39,000 specimens per year.
The role supports the team, facilitating Histology and Diagnostic Cytology specimens from the pre-analytical area through to the next stage of the pathway.
The post holder will assist the Reception Team Leader with the day-to-day operation and supervision of the pre-analytical area, ensuring efficient service provision by using staff and resources appropriately.
The role also includes receiving, unpacking, checking and registering samples, liaising with Health Board departments to ensure effective and timely throughput to the next laboratory section.
This role is currently under review within the Health Board and will result in the issuing of a revised band 3 job description. If appointed, your manager will ensure you are kept informed and support you through any changes, including discussing relevant training requirements.
Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist the Reception Team Leader with the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Pre-Analytical area of the Cellular Pathology Department, ensuring efficient provision of the service by utilising staff and other resource appropriately.
The post holder will receive, unpack, check and register samples and undertake clerical duties as necessary.
The post holder will provide technical and preparatory support to the pre-analytical area of the department

Qualification

- Education to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
