Position: Quantity Surveyor

Reporting to: Commercial Manager (Head of Department)

Open to: Quantity Surveyors working for a residential developer – either national PLC or regional SME (current or previous)

Region: Western region covering Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset

Responsible for: 2 developments in Gloucestershire – both over 100 units in size

Quantity Surveyor – Job purpose

To lead the commercial and surveying functions across multiple developments, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Quantity Surveyor plays a pivotal role in cost management, procurement, and contract administration, driving financial performance and efficiency across all schemes.

Quantity Surveyor – About you

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or demonstrable practical experience.
  • Quantity Surveyor working for a residential developer – either national PLC or regional SME (current or previous).
  • Previous quantity surveying experience within residential or commercial construction is essential.
  • Proven experience in procurement, cost planning, and contract administration.
  • Understanding of groundworks, earthworks, roadworks, paving, and drainage pricing.
  • Knowledge of new build residential development and building techniques.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating, contract administration, and financial reporting.
  • IT literate, with experience using relevant industry software (such as cost estimating and take-off tools).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in managing financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence stakeholders and translate financial data into practical understanding.
  • A natural team player.
