Control Flow Technologies Group are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager (BDM) to play a crucial role in driving business growth by developing and managing relationships with Water Companies, Local Authorities, property developers, and key stakeholders affected by water and environmental challenges.

The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, securing contracts, and promoting Control Flow’s innovative water and energy-saving solutions.

As a key member of the Growth Team, the BDM will be responsible for sales, account management, and networking to expand Control Flow’s client base, drive repeat business, and contribute to lead-generation efforts. The role also involves developing high-value proposals, supporting funding applications, and managing bids to secure new projects.

Key Tasks

• Sales, account management and networking in all appropriate sectors

• Develop an expanded network of repeat clients in allocated regions

• Develop proposals for new delivery projects including technology appraisals and commercials

• Assist clients in the production of approval documents, internal project briefings and proposals

• Develop funding proposals in conjunction with the internal funding team

• Assist in the production of quality tender responses and administration

• Project manage the range of activities required

• Plan, contribute to and manage Control Flow’s lead generation activities, including promotional events

• Act as the initial point of contact for client queries within allocated regions

• Develop and maintain project plans, including performance reporting, ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with Control Flow quality processes

• Manage the pipeline of allocated/developed accounts and provide regular updates to the Head of Business Growth

• Support Delivery and Finance teams with project purchase orders, invoicing and cash collection

Key Performance Indicators

• Achieve or exceed monthly and annual revenue targets

• Develop and convert a pipeline of opportunities into contracts

• Number of new clients acquired within the water and energy efficiency sectors

• Retention of existing clients and repeat business generated

• Number and quality of bids/tenders submitted and success rate achieved

• Relationship development with key stakeholders including water companies, property developers and public authorities

• Lead generation and conversion performance

• Effective collaboration with internal teams including Funding, Delivery and Finance

• Accuracy and timeliness in project reporting, client communication and administration

• Continuous improvement in sales and technical competencies

Compliance

• Ensure understanding of Control Flow’s quality and environmental management systems and work in accordance with their requirements

• Maintain awareness of environmental aspects and impacts relevant to the role and ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation

• Ensure all Control Flow activities are GDPR compliant

Qualifications, Certifications & Licences:

• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel regularly

Demonstrable Experience

• Proven experience and success within a sales environment (preferably 3+ years)

• Good working knowledge of water and nutrient neutrality with a strong environmental/sustainability awareness

• Experience working with local government departments, including planning teams, to support environmental strategic goals

• Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate complex proposals clearly and effectively

• Proven influencing and relationship-building skills

• High level of literacy and ability to produce high-quality project proposals

• Bid writing experience and strong commercial acumen

• Ability to gain client confidence and develop strong working relationships

• Keen interest in energy efficiency and decarbonisation

Desirable

• Tender production experience

• Knowledge of planning regulations and processes, particularly Section 106 notices
