## Seeking a “Golden Days Companion” (Personal Assistant)
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester
Hours: Approx. 6 hours per week (Flexible / evenings or weekends)
Compensation: £11.44 – £12.50/hr
## About Me:
I’m Ty. I’m 16 years old, and people say I have a wise “old man” soul with a great sense of humour! I use an AAC device to speak, and I am currently living my Golden Days—exploring my gender identity, loving all things “girly,” and looking for a true partner-in-crime.
## The Vibe:
I don’t want a clinical “carer.” I want a Golden Days Companion. Someone to be my confidante, my hair stylist, and my walking buddy. We want a relationship that is relaxed, fun, and built on real trust. I am specifically looking for a 90s–2010s kid who shares my love for that era's music, comedy, and culture!
## What Our Time Together Looks Like:
Shopping & Fun: Heading out to the shops, gossiping, and trying out new things together.
Building My Independence: Supporting me to learn new skills and helping me continue preparing for adulthood as I grow.
Country Walks: Getting out for fresh air, nature, and accessible adventures.
Sofa Nights: Chilling with Family Guy, music, and my absolute love for Persian cats.
The "Zone-Out": Sometimes the world gets a bit loud. When I get overwhelmed, my headphones go on. I need someone who is happy to just "be" with me in the quiet with our headphones on while I recharge.
Pampering: Brushing and styling my long hair (it’s my absolute favourite way to relax!).
## The Practical Stuff & Training:
* Get to know my brain first: No initial clinical experience or medical training is required! The absolute priority is that we click and understand how each other's brains work first.
* Future Training: Comprehensive manual handling and physical lifting training (for my wheelchair and transfers) will be fully provided at a later date, once a strong, trusted relationship is established.
* Out and About: Helping me navigate accessible routes when we go out on our shopping trips and nature walks.
The Interview Process: A Practical Skills Assessment
Forget stiff, traditional question-and-answer sessions. To ensure we find a companion with the right professional skills, our recruitment process involves interactive, real-world scenarios:
- Stage 1: Communication & Chemistry Check
- An initial meeting with me, my support network, and Teddy the Dog. We will use interactive "This or That" scenarios to evaluate your problem-solving speed and ensure our communication styles align.
- Stage 2: The Community Access Practical
- Attention to Detail: Handling a specific task under time pressure (like an accurate refreshment order).
- Sensory & Practical Support: A brief exercise to identify clothing items that meet my specific style and sensory requirements.
- Environment Adaptation: Demonstrating the ability to transition smoothly from active community navigation to a calm, quiet, and relaxing home environment.
- Stage 3: Final Discussion
- A final meeting to discuss the "Golden Days" contract details and scheduling.
