About The Role
Communications Coordinator (Maternity Cover – 1-year Fixed Term Contract)
Cala Management Ltd is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join the team on a 1-year fixed-term maternity cover contract. The role can be based in either Edinburgh or Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
Reporting to the Head of External Communications and working closely with the Internal Communications team, you will support the coordination and delivery of both external (PR and social media) and internal communications activity.
You will ideally have experience in internal communications, PR and/or social media, and enjoy working in a varied, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include supporting:
- The delivery of external and internal communications strategies, campaigns and materials
- The coordination of organic social media activity across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok
- Monitoring social media channels and review sites, responding to comments and customer messages
- Communications and events linked to Cala’s corporate charity partner, Lighthouse
- The production of corporate materials
- Proofreading PR and communications materials prior to publication
- Providing crisis‑comms support through updating plans, media handling assistance, and channel updates
- Reporting, measurement and evaluation of communications activity
- Content creation, maintenance and updates across the website and internal communications channels
- The organisation of photography and videography
- General administrative tasks, including meeting coordination and renewal of media subscriptions and licences
About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong writing skills across a range of formats, including news articles, newsletters, press releases, blogs, website content and social media posts
- Excellent grammar, a flair for storytelling, and the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
- Confidence using TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Experience with social media scheduling tools and analytics platforms
- Basic video editing and graphic design skills (e.g. CapCut and Canva)
- Use of SharePoint as an intranet is advantageous, alongside any internal comms email platforms
- Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills
This is a varied and deadline-driven role, requiring someone who is reliable, flexible and able to use their own initiative. You will be self-motivated, proactive and highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle and prioritise a range of activity at any time.
Occasionally, you may be required to support social media activity outside of normal working hours. Where this occurs, you will be encouraged to take time back at an appropriate point.
