Trainee Education MHP

Due to a promotion in the service we are looking for individuals, with a passion for early intervention and prevention, to train as an Education Mental Health Practitioners to work across education settings in North Lincolnshire.

The Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people in and around their educational settings. This includes 1:1 work, group work and whole school interventions.

This post is a Band 4 post and upon successful completion of the course candidates will be employed by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Education Mental Health Practitioner.

Candidates will be in training in their first year and will be required to work full time 9 - 5pm. During the training year staff will spend three days a week within the MHST service and two days per week at the University of Northumbria. Candidates must be available for a September start.

Successful candidates will be offered a full-time education programme specifically for the role in partnership with the University of Northumbria. This post will be funded at NHS Band 4 scale with guaranteed employment on completion of training and having attained EMHP qualification, with a starting salary projected to be based on the NHS Band 5 scale.

The training programme for this post starts in September 2026, is 12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning within educational settings across North Lincolnshire.

Delivery of the programme will be provided through a combination of taught days within the university, independent self-guided study days and experience gained in educational settings and mental health services.

The candidate will be delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people, with mild to moderate mental health problems, in an education setting.

They will also support staff in education settings to identify, and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

Working with and within educational environments to afford better access to specialist mental health services.

Deliver 1:1 interventions, group work and whole school interventions.
