Infant Feeding Coordinator

The post holder will have a lead role in supporting an increase in the number of mothers initiating and sustaining breastfeeding.
The post holder will ensure antenatal and postnatal services promote early years nurturing to support long-term emotional wellbeing and development.
The post holder will be the key professional to support maintenance of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Stage 3 and Gold award accreditation process which is aligned with a set of interlinking and evidence-based standards for maternity, neonatal, community and hospital-based children’s services providing a roadmap for transforming care.
The role requires the post holder to use their specialist knowledge and skills in infant feeding and take the lead in the development of programmes that support women. The post holder should also ensure provision of specialist support for women with complex feeding issues when required.
The post holder working as part of the specialist and management team, will engage at all levels within the service to develop a service committed to best practice in infant feeding, promotion of breastfeeding and improved outcomes.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that women who are either unable to breast feed for medical reasons or choose not to breastfeed are equally supported and given consistent advice and support.
The post holder will lead and contribute to regular audit into the experiences of service users and service providers, helping inform key stakeholders and shape future policy and decision-making processes around infant feeding and the promotion of breastfeeding.
The post holder will ensure implementation of national policies and local guidelines that relate to maternal and Infant nutrition
The role requires the post holder to provide leadership, representation and visibility for HDFT at regional and national forums.
