The Role

Hourly Paid or Fixed Term Sessional Teaching Fellows in Accounting, Economics and Finance.

We are seeking to appoint Sessional Teaching Fellows in Accounting, Economics and Finance to support teaching within the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. Depending on the applicant, this could involve teaching specialised areas of the curriculum related to your expertise, or more general cover for teaching across our courses when required.

The appointee may deliver teaching on any of the courses within the School. The topics offered would be subject to the skills, expertise and experience of the successful candidate. Preference would be given to candidates having expertise and experience in one or more of the following subject areas:

  • Financial Reporting
  • Management Accounting
  • Financial Management
  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Quantitative Economics (with the ability to use, demonstrate the use of, and teaching of Microsoft Excel as a primary tool and Eviews, Power BI, Python, R and Stata as secondary tools)

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels in both undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. They will deliver teaching in either interactive workshop format or conventional lectures and seminars depending on the subject area.

Hours of work will depend on the subject area of the applicant, the applicant’s availability, and the needs within the School during the academic year. We would aim to offer work around the applicant’s other commitments. The working pattern for this post is to be agreed as per Sessional Teaching requirements.

Salary Information

New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
