Do you have a background in fashion design, textiles, or the garment industry and a desire to inspire the next generation of creative talent?

Brighton MET College is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Associate Lecturer to join our Fashion and Textiles team on a bank basis, delivering Fashion and Textiles at Level 3 to a motivated cohort of students at the threshold of their creative careers.

You will play a key role in shaping a positive and ambitious studio culture - offering individual guidance, delivering formative and summative assessments, and contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum. Your industry experience and professional networks will be invaluable in bringing real-world context into the classroom and creating meaningful opportunities for students.

In this role you will plan and deliver engaging, industry-informed teaching across core units including fashion design, ideas generation, garment construction, textiles techniques, and creative development. You will support students to build strong technical skills alongside a confident design aesthetic, preparing them for progression to higher education or employment within the fashion and creative industries.

Essential Criteria Requirements

  • A degree or higher-level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in Fashion Design, Textiles, Fashion Technology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience within the fashion or textiles industry - for example in design, garment construction, pattern cutting, print, knitwear, or a related specialism.
  • Technical skills in at least one core area of fashion or textiles practice, with the ability to teach and demonstrate these to students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing.
