Location – Lackenby, Middlesbrough

Pattern of Work – 36.5 hours, Monday - Friday

What you need to know about the role

As a British Steel Electrical Automation Engineer you will provide electrical/automation engineering support and development at Teesside Beam Mill.

You will be responsible to the Plant Engineer for managing CAPEX and major maintenance projects, as well as the day-to-day improvements to the Teesside site.

Part of your role will be to monitor plant performance; carry out route cause analysis of significant failures and develop/implement solutions as well as liaising with all Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure effective and smooth introduction of new equipment, capital spend and process improvement technologies.

What we need to know about you

You must be self-motivated, a good communicator at all levels, and be capable of managing, motivating and leading multi-disciplined teams. Knowledge and understanding of project management techniques, and engineering practices and standards, are highly desirable. Qualifications in APM/Prince would be an advantage though not essential.

Previous experience of managing the engagement and work of suppliers will be essential, from creating including dealing with contracts, management of site work, change and claims management. You must be experienced in writing technical specifications for services and products.

You are required to have proficient PC skills including Microsoft packages.

We’re looking for someone who has as a minimum qualification of a Engineering Degree, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation.

You should have experience of working in heavy industrial engineering, be familiar with HV/LV installations, PLC programming (Siemens S5/S7) and communications, fault finding, closed loop control, PID loops and AC / DC drives (Siemens).

Effective man management/supervisory skills are crucial and you need to be a highly motivated self-starter with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
