ROLE: Facilities Lead/Manager
LOCATION: North Ayrshire (Portfolio of Four Schools)

We're looking for a Facilities Manager who will take ownership of delivering exceptional FM services across a group of schools, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑performing environments for staff, pupils, and visitors.
Role Responsibilities
- Leading day‑to‑day FM delivery — You'll guide and motivate on‑site teams to deliver consistently high standards, ensuring the service reflects Mitie's values and supports the smooth running of each school.
- Maintaining full compliance — You'll ensure all contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements are met across the four‑school portfolio, keeping buildings safe, compliant, and ready for use at all times.
- Managing budgets effectively — You'll take responsibility for financial performance, using budgets wisely to achieve contract profitability while still delivering the best possible service to each school.
- Overseeing maintenance and lifecycle works — You'll coordinate planned maintenance, monitor lifecycle activity, and manage subcontractors to ensure work is completed to a high standard and with minimal disruption.
- Driving Health & Safety standards — You'll champion a strong safety culture, ensuring risks are managed, documentation is up to date, and safe working practices are embedded across all sites.
- Monitoring performance and reporting — You'll produce accurate monthly reports, track service delivery, and highlight improvements to keep the contract performing at its best.
- Developing and supporting staff — You'll recruit, coach, and retain talented people, creating a positive working environment where teams feel supported and motivated to excel.
Required Qualifications: applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
- Relevant FM qualification — A good general education supported by a Facilities Management‑aligned qualification, along with evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Experience in a similar environment — Proven success delivering FM services in a comparable setting, with strong understanding of compliance requirements.
- Technical and operational knowledge — Strong understanding of utilities, building systems, and lifecycle management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills — Able to build positive relationships, communicate clearly, and resolve issues effectively.
- Commercial awareness — A performance‑driven mindset with the ability to balance service quality and financial targets.
- IT proficiency — Confident using Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Personal attributes — Flexible, adaptable, proactive, and able to work independently when needed.
- Safeguarding commitment — A strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people (Enhanced DBS required).
