We're looking for a customer-focused Service Charge Accountant to join our Finance team at PA Housing. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring service charges are managed accurately and fairly, giving residents confidence that they receive value for money and clear information about the services they receive.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to provide trusted financial insight, improve processes and deliver excellent customer outcomes. What you’ll be doing

  • Managing service charge accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
  • Preparing annual service charge budgets and year-end service charge statements.
  • Reviewing and analysing service charge costs, forecasts and recoverability.
  • Leading and supporting a team of Service Charge Officers to deliver key objectives.
  • Producing management information, KPIs and financial reports.
  • Working collaboratively with Housing, Estates, Home Ownership and other internal teams.
  • Leading on service charge projects, process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Resolving service charge queries and building positive relationships with residents, leaseholders and external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

  • Part-qualified accountant (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong knowledge of service charge accounting and relevant legislation.
  • Experience within a service charge finance environment, ideally in social housing.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching or developing a team.
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cyclical workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with non-finance colleagues.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering value for money.
