Are you organised, accurate, and comfortable helping people by phone, email and in person? Are you looking for a first step into local government, with full training and no need for previous experience? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role you help keep Derby's register of electors accurate and you support fair and accurate elections as they happen. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues who will support you as you go.
As an Elections Administrator, you will need a willingness to learn and an eye for getting things right. When an election runs, you'll see directly how your work helps people take part.

The Opportunity
In the role of Elections Administrator, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
You will help keep the register of electors accurate and you support elections as they happen. Day to day, you would:
- process applications to register to vote, and applications to vote by post or proxy
- answer questions from the public by phone, email and letter
- help prepare for elections, including organising the temporary staff who run polling stations and counts
- raise purchase orders and invoices, with support from senior colleagues
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
- the ability to use a computer and enter information accurately
- good organisation and the discipline to keep to deadlines
- a clear way of explaining things, by phone, in writing and in person
- care and discretion in handling confidential information
- a good standard of Maths and English
- a willingness to work outside normal hours in the run-up to elections and other busy periods
Some experience of customer service or handling records is useful.
