Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an exceptional

Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team and play a leading role in our ambitious digital transformation journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to help modernise healthcare data platforms, delivering innovative cloud-based solutions that directly support clinical services, operational performance and strategic decision-making across one of Wales' largest Health Boards.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across our enterprise data platform, designing and delivering robust, scalable and secure data engineering solutions across both cloud and on-premise environments.

You Will Have

  • Significant experience designing and building automated, scalable data pipelines.
  • Advanced Python and SQL development skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform technologies, including BigQuery, Airflow/Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Dataform and Dataplex.
  • Experience delivering complex technical projects in fast-paced environments.
  • A passion for mentoring others and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Extensive experience in the design, build, test, modify and maintain data pipelines and data stores creating complex or large-scale data products.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in the design, build, test, modify and maintain data pipelines and data stores creating complex or large-scale data products within a healthcare setting..

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience in a broad range of data engineering exercises including data models such as Kimball's Dimensional Data Modelling.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in a broad range of data engineering exercises including data models such as Kimball's Dimensional Data Modelling within a healthcare setting.

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience in using key programming languages including T-SQL and Python.

Desirable criteria

  • Experienced in key programming languages including BigQuery SQL.

Abilities

  • Extensive experience in developing complex data engineering processes using a range of technical tools.
