Clinical Coordinator/ Sister

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Emergency Department as a Clinical Coordinator/ Senior Sister.

The main duty of the role is to clinically coordinate and manage patients within the Emergency Department while delivering high quality, safe and cost effective care to all patients and families.

You will be responsible for care standards, appropriate use of staff and space and patient flow within the department ensuring excellent patient experience.

An essential part of the role will be to proactively monitor and manage Clinical Quality Indicators and the new Emergency Care Standards, ensuring escalation in line with Trust policy.

  • Co-ordinate and manage the Emergency Department to ensure patients are managed quickly, safely and effectively, while meeting NHS standards
  • Maintain good communications with patients, relatives and other visitors. Respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required
  • Provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating them without supervision
  • Assist the Matron in leading the nursing team and undertake nursing management roles such as appraisals, development plans and performance monitoring.
  • Have full knowledge of the Major Incident Procedure, your role in it and its implementation
  • Monitor standards of nursing care, patient experience and patient safety and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them
  • Lead and/or participate in collaborative decision making within the nursing team
  • Ensure the delivery of effective and efficient discharge processes.
  • Participate in adverse incident management e.g. clinical incident reporting, complaints
