Are you a brilliant communicator, someone who thrives from working as a team and gets a buzz out of supporting young people with special educational needs and autism achieve their very best?

Are you positive and solution focused? We are looking for a Learning Support Officer to work with students on a one to one and group basis, supporting them to access mainstream, supported curriculum areas and work experience and helping them to achieve and exceed their goals and ambitions at college.

You’ll be responsible for motivating, supporting and guiding your students through their learning journey; developing support plans and learning strategies alongside curriculum staff. Responsible for managing complex behaviours and ensuring learners are on track with their work and making progress against their Education Health Care Plan outcomes, you’ll play a key role in helping them get the most out of their experience at Gateshead College.

What we’re looking for

We’d like you to be as passionate as we are about delivering top quality support and helping student to build their confidence and skills.

Experience of working with young people with SEN is desirable, but not essential.
