The Buyer will support the Procurement Manager in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers within the EV infrastructure and electrification supply chain.

The role focuses on securing competitive pricing, ensuring supply continuity, and onboarding compliant, high-performing suppliers aligned with ESG and operational standards.

Job Responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement

  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and subcontract services across EV infrastructure projects (e.g. EV chargers, cabling, switchgear, civils, installation services).
  • Obtain, evaluate, and negotiate supplier quotations to achieve best value across cost, quality, lead time, and service.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with internal systems (e.g. Eque2 or equivalent).
  • Support the development and management of framework agreements across key categories such as electrical wholesalers, plant hire, and waste management.

Supplier Management & Onboarding

  • Assist with onboarding new suppliers, ensuring compliance checks and documentation are completed.
  • Support the integration of suppliers into central procurement systems and databases.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, pricing schedules, and agreed commercial terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues where necessary.

Cost Management & Value Improvement

  • Support cost reduction initiatives through benchmarking, alternative sourcing, and supplier negotiations.
  • Track spend across EV-related categories and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist in negotiating pricing, rebates, and commercial agreements.
  • Contribute to margin improvement strategies across projects.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure procurement aligns with delivery schedules.
  • Expedite orders and manage delivery timelines to prevent delays.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and delivery issues with suppliers.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of procurement processes across operational teams.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within utilities or construction.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to analyse costs and identify value opportunities.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and procurement/ERP systems.

Desirable

  • Experience within EV, electrical, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of EV infrastructure components and supply chains.
  • Familiarity with framework agreements and rebate structures.
  • Understanding of ESG principles and supplier compliance requirements.
