Do you want to be a part of a dynamic Public Health team, aiming to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities by engaging with partnerships, influencing commissioning approaches, reviewing and interpreting evidence, agreeing outcome priorities, and shaping policies and public spending decisions?

Rotherham MBC is now seeking to strengthen its forward-thinking Public Health team through the appointment of a Public Health Specialist. The role will provide support across a range of Public Health projects and initiatives. You will work with a range of partners across the system, with responsibility for supporting planning, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of policies, strategies and services to prevent poor health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities in health outcomes.

Rotherham’s Public Health team is a small but highly energetic team, aspiring to achieve significant improvements in the borough’s health and wellbeing through integrated working across the council and its partners, adopting a prevention-led ethos to reduce inequalities in health for its population.

As part of a matrix working team, you will have opportunities to work across the many Public Health challenges faced by our residents, and to influence both the health and social care systems that respond to these challenges and the wider determinants, with the aim to prevent them.

The main focus of this post is to work within a wide-ranging public health agenda for Rotherham’s children. You will be part of the Best Start and Beyond portfolio, where together we will prioritise roles and responsibilities in order to make the most difference for Rotherham’s children, young people and families.
